Description: Children with 22q deletion syndrome are at high risk for velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD) and hypernasal speech. This webinar will include discussion of what causes VPD in children with 22q, how we diagnose it, and the treatment options for improving speech. We will discuss the timing and types of surgical procedures available, as well as the role of speech therapy in the diagnosis and treatment process. Special pre-surgery and post-surgery needs of children with 22q undergoing VPD surgery will also be reviewed
