Supporting Siblings: A Series of Virtual Meet-Ups

You are here

The 22q Family Foundation is dedicated to supporting the entire family. And siblings in our community are often overlooked. If you have a sibling that is between the ages of 12-17 this opportunity is for you! We will be launching a series of virtual meet-ups to connect siblings together. This unique opportunity will allow a safe space for siblings to connect, relate, and reflect. To them, living with a brother or sister is a unique lifestyle; however, they are not in this alone.

Meet John DeStefano, our moderator and a sibling in our 22q community:

"Hi, I’m John, I’m 16 yrs old and my brother Mark who is 13 yrs old. We both like video games, playing baseball and basketball, hanging out with our dog Toby, and competing at yard games. Mark was diagnosed with 22Q a few months after he was born and had a lot of struggles every step of the way with things that came easy to me. The COVID pandemic was really hard for our family as I’m sure it was for many others. I realize that while we don’t know anyone personally that also has 22Q, that there is a community with the 22Q Family Foundation to connect with. I am excited to share that coming very soon, with the support of the 22Q Family Foundation, I’m going to kick off a Sibling Support Group to bring siblings between the ages of 12-17 years old together in a virtual setting to share first hand experiences and listen with an understanding ear. I look forward to sharing my story and meeting other siblings to hear their stories."

Tentative Details:
