Dear 22q Community and 22q Retreat Moms,

It is with great sadness that I write to inform all of you that we have cancelled our 22q Family Foundation Moms Retreat until Fall 2021.  As we have consulted with many medical professionals and continue to monitor the CDC guidelines, we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel this event.  The safety of our families, 22q children, and the Retreat Planning committee is our number one priority.  With so much still unknown about COVID-19, we don’t feel it would be responsible to keep this event.

For those that have attended in the past, this retreat was a magical weekend filled with many special moments.  We feel that the regulations and COVID-19 guidelines would limit us in creating the atmosphere we want for all of you.  The Retreat Committee is currently working on ways to offer virtual retreat programming to all of you. We will keep you updated with details as they become available.  Please be sure to cancel any flight, car rental or off-site hotel and/or vacation rental reservations you may have made as soon as possible. Those who registered and paid to attend the retreat can expect a full refund back to the card with which you paid in the next few weeks.

To stay in the loop, please be sure to follow us on social media and/or check back on our website for upcoming details about our “virtual” retreat as well as next year’s in-person retreat in Carefree, Arizona.  For those that have registered (both ticketed and waitlisted individuals), we are unable to hold your spots, and will re-open ticketing to everyone at a date in the future.  We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, and look forward to life getting back to some semblance of normal so that we can all get together!

We are thrilled to announce our second 22q Family Foundation Moms Retreat. In June 2018, 36 moms from 13 different states joined together for a weekend that changed their lives. For many, it was the first time connecting in person with another mom who has a child diagnosed with 22q. For others, it was an opportunity to connect with so many friends made online whom they shared their struggles and successes with. And for others it was the space that was given to them to have the time to relax and recharge. We all share a common bond, brought into this community by a loved one affected with 22q. Our journeys have been different, most challenging and unpredictable. But we all have experienced worry, heartache, sleepless nights, and busy days with our kids. This break is definitely something that all of us need. We all know how many hats you wear each and every day to care for yourself or a loved one with 22q. This weekend will be all about YOU! Many of us have an entire community of 22q moms we have connected with virtually or by phone, but have never met in person. Now is your chance to make those connections in person, share stories, and continue to build new relationships. Join moms like yourself in Carefree, Arizona for a weekend filled with time to relax, recharge, and connect! This retreat is for you!

F.A.Q's

1. What are the prices of the tickets?

Private Room (private room including all of the above and more)- $340

Shared Room (share a room with one other mom and includes all of the above and more) -$280

Local Mom (purchase this if you are a local mom or an option if above ticket options are sold out. Stay off site; however, still get all of the amenities including meals, except lodging. You are responsible for transportation to/from the retreat facility) -$140

-There are two options available: Private rooms or shared rooms. A private room will consist of your own bed and own bathroom. A shared room will consist of having your OWN bed and sharing a room with one other mom. By purchasing a shared room ticket, you are agreeing to share a room. Don't worry you'll be able to request a few moms you would be willing to share with over the weekend.

2. Can I attend if I'm a local mom in Arizona but I don't need a room overnight?

-Yes, you should select the Local Mom Ticket. You'll be charged for all of the other amenities, except for lodging. You'll be charged for dinner on that Friday, Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner on that Saturday, and Breakfast on that Sunday. You'll be able to participate in all of the retreat events and get all of the other perks the out-of-town moms will receive.

3. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

-We do not provide transportation to/from the retreat center. Local moms are encouraged to drive and carpool. There is free parking available! We will provide a shuttle service to/from a pre-determined hotel for moms staying and having purchased the local mom ticket.

-Transportation options to/from Spirit to Sky Harbor Phoenix Airport – or - Gateway Mesa Airport Spirit in the Desert does not have a transportation system.

If you are flying in and not renting a car, we have some selections for transport to/from the airports that our guests have used. Be advised that there may be an up-charge from Gateway Mesa Airport—Allegiant Airlines—to the center. All of these carriers are licensed and bonded. You can book online or by phone and they take all credit cards. *Always remember to confirm any online reservation by phone and email! SUPERSHUTTLE 800-258-3826 www.supershuttle.com $42 - $46 per person, $7 for each additional only if booked at the same time. Takes all credit cards.

UBER https://get.uber.com Uber is very reasonable and on-time. You need to register online and then follow through. Allow about 15 minutes at the airport for it to arrive for last-minute calls. Our experience so far with reservations is on time-- fee ranges from $36 to $55 (not per person) per car ride.

RENTAL CARS: Phoenix Sky Harbor airport has every rental car company available. Make sure to reserve early as Jan – April is very busy and economy cars go very quickly. If you want to rent a car for a day or two in Carefree, Enterprise is local and a good deal. Call their local number which is (480) 575-6527. They’ll pick you up/drop off car at our center.

4. What can I bring into the event?

-Comfy attire for fitness sessions you may choose to participate in.

-A dressy outfit (whatever that means to you) for our dinner out on the town.

-A swimsuit

-Please bring sunscreen and sunglasses...it will be lovely weather in Arizona!

6. What's the refund policy?

We have a 60 day full-money back refund policy. We completely understand that things come up that may be hard to plan for etc. However, every participant will have till September 15, 2020 to cancel with a full refund. At that time, you will be refunded your money and your spot will be replaced with someone on the waiting list.

7. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No. At registration, you'll just need to provide your name.
