Retrun to 22q Stories

You are here

Jaxson was diagnosed with a CHD at two days old, he had open heart surgery at six days old to repair his interrupted aortic arch and VSD. We later found out that he also was missing his thymus, about a week later the results came back that he had 22q11. When he was able to start eating after surgery he was aspirating and we discovered his vocal cords were paralyzed. He also has larygomalicia. He had to be fed through an NG tube until he was about two months old. He can now eat from a bottle with special feeding instructions but he is doing great. He is a very happy baby. We are so fortunate to have such a strong little boy.
