THE GLOBAL CHEF

Fall Session 3rd-5th Grade (6 weeks)

Junior chefs cook their way around the world in our Global Chef session.  Come explore other cultures through engaging activities and preparing traditional dishes.  Each class begins with a fun exercise built around a specific region and culture.  After a brief cooking demonstration Junior Chefs will prepare and eat a dish from that   area.  Each student will receive their own apron to take home, as well as a cookbook containing recipes from class. Contact: culinarykids@dempsterfoundation.org

EDIBLE PLANET

Culinary Kids is a Chicago based afterschool program offering various cooking classes and summer camps to students in Chicago Public elementary schools.   Classes are held on-site in school cafeterias for approximately 1 hour and fifteen minutes once a week for six weeks.  Summer camps are offered in week long sessions. Culinary Kids provide students with all the necessary cooking equipment and ingredients to prepare their dishes.  Classes are led by Kelly Kartch and consist of 10-12 students.  Each session is a combination of engaging lessons, demonstrations, and hands-on cooking.  Students will recieve thier own apron, a 'cookbook' of recipes used in class, and a delicious meal that they have prepared.  At Culinary Kids we encourage children to be curious and think critically by fostering a community built on respect and trust, where they can grow and work together.

The Dempster Family Foundation offers this program to Chicago Public Schools and students free of charge.

Schools interested in Culinary Kids should contact Kelly Kartch at culinarykids@dempsterfoundation.org or 773.682.7853
