Blog 7: Mental Health
You are here

Hello, friends and new followers.
I know it’s been a while since I last posted here, and I hope you’ll understand why. Losing my big brother has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. I needed to take a step back from everything—including work—to process and grieve. I wanted to spend some much-needed time with his friends and my family, trying to heal from the overwhelming loss. But now, after a period of reflection, I feel ready to continue this journey, to share more, and to keep pushing forward. It also feels like the perfect time to return, especially since this moment aligns with something so important.
Did you know that May was “Mental Health Awareness Month”? It’s a time for all of us to reflect, speak up, and raise awareness about the importance of mental health. Mental health is something deeply impacted by 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. We all know this syndrome brings with it a multitude of challenges, both visible and invisible. But one area we don’t talk about enough is mental health. As part of the foundation and the 22q community, we strive to raise awareness and support mental well-being in any way we can. The foundation offers many valuable resources to help with this, including webinars, conferences, mini-pamphlets, and a comprehensive list of clinics. We’re also working on developing additional resources and a dedicated mental health team. Even with what’s available now, there’s support to help navigate the challenges and the emotional journey we’re all on.
As many of you may know, the foundation and I have teamed up with Outshine Labels for a special collaboration. Together, we’ve designed shirts, sweatshirts, and other accessories that hold powerful meaning. These pieces are more than clothing—they represent your strength, your journey, and the resilience you carry every day. And when you shop my store you can feel good knowing you are purchasing a piece while 70% of profits go back to support the 22q Family Foundation. The foundation’s #RockYourQ campaign is one of the key ways we’re raising awareness, spreading the word, and giving everyone in our community a chance to share their story. #RockYourQ is all about embracing who we are and showing the world we’re proud of our unique journey.
For me, my symbol in this campaign is the semicolon. To most, the semicolon is just a punctuation mark—a simple pause in a sentence. But for me, and countless others facing mental health struggles, the semicolon means so much more. It represents a choice—a choice to keep going when life feels too heavy, to keep fighting when you want to give up. The semicolon symbolizes hope, strength, and the decision to continue living, no matter how dark or difficult things may seem. It’s a reminder that every story is unfinished, that there’s always more to tell, and that it’s okay to ask for help along the way. When I wear the semicolon, it reminds me that we are never alone in our mental health struggles and helps me stay grounded in my own journey. I chose the semicolon for my merchandise because it’s a simple yet powerful symbol—one that can start conversations, break down walls, and open the door to much-needed discussions about mental health. Who knows? By wearing that semicolon, you might spark a conversation that helps someone who’s struggling. You might help them feel seen and heard.
We’re all in this together, and it’s always okay to ask for help when you need it. Remember, you don’t have to go through anything alone. We’ve got each other!
I challenge you to browse my collection and find all of the semi-colons in apparel collections HERE. (Don't forget 70% of all profits return back to the foundation when you shop my store).
