Location:
Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center - Carefree, AZ

22q Moms...you are in need of some major relaxation and time for YOU. We are so excited to offer the first The 22q Family Foundation Mom's Retreat: Finding YOU in the Midst of 22q.  We will gather at the Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center in Carefree, Arizona June 15-17, 2018.

We all share a common bond, brought into this community by a loved one affected with 22q.  Our journeys have been different, most challenging and unpredictable.  But we all have experienced worry, heartache, sleepless nights, and busy days with our kids.  This break is definitely something that all of us need. We all know how many hats you wear each and every day to care for yourself or a loved one with 22q. This weekend will be all about YOU! Many of us have an entire community of 22q moms we have connected with virtually or by phone, but have never met in person.  Now is your chance to make those connections in person, share stories, and continue to build new relationships.

  Yoga/Meditation Sessions:

Join Kris to start the day with grace and gratitude at the beautiful Labyrinth at Spirit of the Desert as the sun rises.  Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Kris will lead a gentle, energizing physical Yoga practice to greet the sun, then with some simple instructions on meditation you can find a quiet seat to be still or walk the labyrinth in mindful meditation.  Everyone is welcome, no experience is needed.

Breakaway Yoga: Get back to you!  Connect to that place of peace within you.  Move, shift, and allow yourself to just be.  Breakaway Yoga sessions will be guided for all levels of experience, so whether you have never done a Down Dog or done a thousand, take time out to move and connect with your breath.  These will be slow flow Yoga sessions, focusing on safe alignment for your body, and creating a practice that you can take home with you.

  Healing Mandalas/Group Mandala

Mandalas are an ancient tool used for creating balance, peace, healing and so much more. They are sacred circles, the word meaning “center” and the space within the circle considered sacred space. Michele will use her mandala expertise with us and share how they offer the power of healing.

In small group sessions Michele will be teaching you how to create mandalas for YOU—to center into your own needs and recharge and regenerate. Mandalas are circular, generally symmetrical designs, fun to draw and are amazingly powerful. We will be using colored markers and no previous experience is necessary. Mandala making is a tool you will learn and take with you to use anytime, any place. Michele have used them herself to heal and lift her energy and she continues to do so. Let’s play and heal with mandalas!

On Sunday morning let’s gather together and create a big community Nature Mandala. During your stay here, gather leaves, flowers, stones, sticks, rocks on the property—whatever speaks to you. Bring those natural items from home as well to our gathering on Sunday morning and we will have fun creating a big nature mandala together for peace in our lives and on the earth. They are awesome!

What will the room assignments be like?

Due to the large demand of this event, the planning committee determined it would make sense to capitalize on our space and offer both private rooms and shared rooms.  We would like to accomodate as many 22q moms as possible.  Many of us communicate virtually or are planning to attend the retreat with close friends.  By purchasing a ticket to this retreat, if you select the shared room/own bed, you are agreeing to share a room but have your own bed.  Don't worry, you'll be able to indicate a few people you would be willing to share a room with over the weekend.
